I would like to request:

Mouth Biopsy

Why would I need a biopsy?

The gums, lips and cheeks are lined with a special type of skin that is usually pink and smooth.

Any change from this normal appearance should be evaluated by an oral surgeon.

Some of the changes that should prompt you to see us are:

  • Red patches
  • White patches
  • Black/blue/brown patches
  • Bumps, lumps, or swellings in the mouth
  • Sores that do not heal within two weeks
  • Chronic sore throat or change in voice
  • Difficulty chewing or swallowing

Keep in mind that these changes can occur on the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, or roof of your mouth.

They are not always painful.

Do not ignore these signs as they may lead to more serious conditions.

If you have questions or concerns about changes in your mouth, please request an appointment.
